DUBAI PRODUCT REGISTRATION – what is it?

In Dubai, the product registration process is regulated by several authorities, such as:
Health & Public Safety Department, Food Safety Department or Ministry of Health.
STEPS FOR PRODUCT REGISTRATION in Dubai
1. Setup your company in UAE
Before trading with a product within UAE, you must first establish a company and obtain a relevant license for your activity. Only a company registered in the UAE can register its products with Dubai Municipality.
2. Company profile registration in Dubai Municipality
Submission of all required main company documents and registering your company profile within Dubai Municipality.
3. Submission of all the required documents
Submission of all required documents to apply for your product label evaluation according to the product category (sample of the product, design slip and applicant information).
Dubai Customs department is the government department entrusted to regulate the trading activity and ensure a smooth process all around the region.
UAE offers a world-class customs procedure and is rated as one of top world leaders at competitiveness according to IMD world competitiveness center.
Companies must abide by the law and ensure their products are not under the banned items list and follow the UAE norms, otherwise high penalties and fees might be applicable.
HOW TO OBTAIN THE CUSTOM CODE in Dubai?
Companies deciding to import or export goods in/from Dubai are required to register within Dubai Customs and acquire a code for clearance of goods.
To obtain the code, companies are required to hold a valid trading/commercial license issued by a competent authority in UAE.
In order to obtain the custom code an application must be submitted through “Dubai Trade Portal”. Required documents for obtaining the custom code:
- Valid trade license copy
- Passport copy of the authorized person
- Chamber of commerce certificate
- Undertaking letter
The custom code will be generated automatically after the application is reviewed and payment is collected by the authorities. Once the custom code is obtained, the company can start legally its trading activities.
DUBAI CUSTOM CODE RENEWAL
The custom code needs to be renewed annually after the annual renewal of the trade/commercial license following the same application submission process via Dubai Trade Portal.
