Boosting employment by enabling employees from around the globe to work remotely from the UAE, the UAE cabinet has approved the Remote Work Visa scheme to attract talent and expertise. The one-year visa allows foreigners to self-sponsor their entry into the UAE and to work under the terms and conditions of the visa.
With this major step, considered the first of its kind in the region, entrepreneurs and talents will have the opportunity to do business in a secure, attractive, and comfortable environment, with access to all the necessary facilities such as top-of-the-line utilities and telecommunications.
Remote working visa (1 year):
Requirements:
- Passport with a minimum of 6 months’ validity
- Health insurance with UAE coverage validity, or Travel Insurance with Healthcare coverage (minimum 2-week validity), which can then be changed to UAE Health Insurance once the visa formalities have been completed.
- Proof of Employment from a current employer with a one-year contract validity, a minimum of US $3,500 net per month salary, last month’s payslip, and 3 preceding months’ bank statements (statement and contract copies, legally translated into English or Arabic and attested in translated) * & 6 months bank statement.
- If a company owner, then proof of ownership of the company for one year or more, with an average monthly income of US $5,000 net per month and 6 months bank statements.
*If needed offer legal translation service. The cost will depend on the number of characters and the number of pages in each document.
Some more information about the visa

- This program will provide applicants with the ability to live in Dubai in a similar manner to residents, by providing access to phone lines, resident ID cards, banking facilities and the ability to rent accommodation and send children to school;
- The holder of the remote working visa will have a multiple entry visa for the tenure of this program. If out of the UAE for more than six months at a time then the visa will be void.
- It is possible to rent a property with the Emirates ID;
- Renting a car is possible with an Emirates ID;
- Hiring a domestic worker can only be done via a third-party agency; the visa holders will not be able to sponsor one themselves;
- As this program is for one year only, the remote working visa holder will need to re-apply as per the standard application process. – please change to – The remote working visa holder can renew their visa every year. Presence inside the country is mandatory during the renewal.
