How to apply for a Retirement Visa in UAE

The UAE has become an increasingly popular destination for retirees seeking a vibrant lifestyle filled with culture, luxury, and adventure. In response to this growing trend, the UAE cabinet has introduced a Retirement Visa program, allowing expatriates to settle in the region for extended periods. This blog will guide you through the application process for a Retirement Visa in the UAE, detailing eligibility criteria, required documents, and key steps to make your dream of retiring in Dubai a reality.

Dubai has long been a destination for expatriates from around the world, but in recent years there’s been a growing trend toward residents choosing to stay for longer periods of time. In response to this, the UAE cabinet approved a law to introduce some options for Retirement Visas.

For property owner retirees:
This service allows a retiree owning a property the purchase value of which is equal to or more than 1 million AED at the time of purchase, whose age is 55 yeas old and above to apply for a 5-years renewable residence permit.
1) The applicant must be over 55 years old.
2) The investment value (purchasing value or marketing value) in the property is 1 million AED (paid in full, unmortgaged) (one property or several properties) under the name of the applicant. In the event that a mortgaged property, the amount paid must be AED 1 million, or a letter from the bank must be provided in which the amount paid of the mortgage value is set out addressed to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs indicating that (the deposit cannot be released within 3 years).
3) A husband and wife can share one property (providing a certified copy of the marriage contract).

For fixed annual income retirees:
Annual income of the retiree shall not be less than (240,000) or its equivalent in foreign currencies, whether the source of the income is inside or outside the country, provided that a bank account statement for the last (6) six months from the date of applying for obtaining the residency.
1) The applicant must be over 55 years old.
2) Bank account statement for the last (6) six months
3) NOC & Letter as proof indicating the source of income.
