Dubai: A Global Hub for Manufacturing & Industrial Growth

Dubai has positioned itself as one of the most attractive markets in the world for manufacturing and industrial investment. With its strategic location between East and West, world-class logistics infrastructure, tax-friendly policies, and government-backed incentives, the city offers unparalleled opportunities for businesses looking to expand in the Middle East and beyond. From free zones specialized in industrial activities to a strong local consumer base and access to regional markets, Dubai has become the ideal destination for manufacturers to set up, scale, and thrive.

Whether you plan to produce consumer goods, industrial materials, or high-tech products, Dubai provides a secure, business-friendly environment that fosters innovation and growth.

Step-by-Step Process to Obtain a Manufacturing Business License in Dubai

  1. Define Business Activity & Legal Structure
Decide what products you will manufacture and choose your company structure (LLC, sole proprietorship, or branch).
  2. Choose Location: Mainland or Free Zone
    • Mainland: Full access to the UAE market and government contracts; requires a warehouse or factory registered with Ejari.
    • Free Zone: Options like JAFZA or Dubai Industrial City offer 100% foreign ownership, repatriation of profits, and customs benefits, but direct mainland trade may require a distributor.
  3. Reserve Trade Name & Get Initial Approval
Reserve a unique name with Dubai’s Department of Economy & Tourism (DET) and apply for initial approval by submitting basic documents like passport copies and a business plan.
  4. Secure External Approvals & Clearances
    • Dubai Municipality – environmental and health approvals.
    • Civil Defence – fire and safety compliance.
    • MoIAT – federal Industrial Production License.
    • DEWA – confirmation of sufficient power supply.
  5. Secure Premises & Tenancy Contract
Rent or purchase an approved warehouse/factory space. For mainland setups, register the tenancy with Ejari.
  6. Submit Final Application
Provide all approvals, tenancy documents, and company MoA to DET or the Free Zone authority. Once approved, your industrial license will be issued.
