Living and working in the UAE and need to apply for a Schengen Visa for a Business Trip?Β π§³
Below are a few simple STEPS TO FOLLOW when applying for a short-stay Schengen Visa while you’re inside UAEΒ π¦πͺ:
πΒ Check at which Embassy/Consulate you need to apply. In order to file your STEPS at the right place, you will need to know which country should issue you a visa (if you are planning to visit more than one Schengen state). Then you need to check what body of that particular country handles visa applications or whether it has outsourced visa submission to another party;
πΒ Schedule an appointment at the embassy / consulate / visa center;
πΌΒ Attend the visa interview. Take all of the required documents with you, listed in the given order;
βοΈΒ Wait for a response. In the meantime, the embassy will process your visa, which will go through EU security systems as Visa Information System and Schengen Information System;
π§ΎThe following DOCUMENTS are generally required for a Business or short-stay Schengen visa application:
1οΈβ£Schengen Visa application form β Β (fully completed and signed)
2οΈβ£ 1 recently taken photos – (Both photos must be taken within the last 6 months)
3οΈβ£ A valid passport – (It should be valid for at least 3 more months beyond the date the applicant plans to leave the Schengen area, and it should have at least 2 empty visa pages)
4οΈβ£Β Round trip reservation or itinerary – (It must include dates and flight numbers specifying entry and exit from the Schengen area. The applicant can use visa consultation services)
5οΈβ£Β Travel insurance policy – (A document that proves that the applicant has travel health insurance for the whole Schengen territory, with a minimum coverage of 30,000 euros in case of any medical emergency as illnesses, accidents and even repatriation in case of death)
6οΈβ£Β Proof of accommodation – (A document that shows where the applicant will be accommodated throughout his stay in Schengen area. This could be a hotel booking, a rental agreement, or a letter of invitation from a host at whose house the applicant will be staying)
7οΈβ£Β Proof of financial means – (Evidence that the applicant has enough money to support himself financially during his Business trip to Europe. This can be one of the following:
o Bank account statement β that shows you have enough money in your account for the trip. The statement shall be from the latest 6 months
o Sponsorship Letter β by another person that confirms they will be financially supporting your trip to the Schengen. In order for this letter to be valid, it must be accompanied by a bank statement of the sponsor, from the latest 6 months
o A combination of your bank account statement and a letter of sponsorship
8οΈβ£Β Proof of paid visa fee
9οΈβ£ Letter from employer – (Meticulously describing the purpose of the travel, as well as the itinerary of the days spend within the Schengen zone)
π Invitation letter – (Written by the partner company in the Schengen zone faxed also to the corresponding consulate. This letter has to appear as an invitation to attend meetings or other relevant events matching trade, industry or work)
1οΈβ£1οΈβ£ For Non- Emirati nationals for re-entry into the UAE evidence of legal residence is required. (UAE residency visa and EID card valid for at least 3 months from the intended date of departure from the Schengen area)
β οΈΒ The applicant has to submit his application for a Business Schengen Visa to the consulate or embassy of the country where he will be entering or residing the most during his/her business trip.
β’ If the applicant is planning to visit only one country β then he/she needs to apply at the embassy/consulate/ visa center of the country he will be visiting.
β’ If the applicant is planning to visit more than one country β then where he/she needs to apply depends on the number of days he will be spending in each of the countries he will stay in.
β’ When spending an equal amount of days in each β then the applicant needs to apply at the embassy/consulate/ visa center of the country where he/she will arrive first.
β’ When spending the unequal amount of days in each β then he/she will need to apply at the embassy/consulate/ visa center of the country where he will be spending more time.
πThe best time to apply for a Business Schengen visa is at least 3 working weeks before applicantβs business trip to Europe
β³ On average, the processing time for a Business Schengen visa is at least 15 working days β 45 calendar days. Within this period, the applicant will be informed whether the Business Schengen visa has been granted or rejected.
However, depending on the situation, the processing time for a Business visa to Europe might take up longer during peak travel seasons or if there is something extraordinary with the individual case or any political situation is on the go.
