TAJER license is one of the numerous steps taken by the Abu Dhabi government to boost the growth of the local economy and make Abu Dhabi an attractive place to do business in.
The TAJER license is the perfect setup for sponsored spouses, freelancers, and small businesses looking to start at lower costs and without having to pay for office rent. The license will be valid for one year and will have to be renewed annually. There are hundreds of activities under services, consultancy, maintenance, and contracting that an individual can choose from as the scope for business.
Over the years, several changes have been made to its requirements and procedures to make it more business-friendly.
In recent years, ADDED has expanded the Tajer license to include UAE residents and GCC nationals under three legal forms:
- Establishment: Restricted to Emiratis and GCC nationals.
- Sole Proprietorship: Exclusively for Emiratis.
- LLC (Limited Liability Company): Open to Emiratis, GCC nationals, and expats. Expats may own up to 49%, with the remaining 51% held by an Emirati partner, unless the business activity qualifies for 100% foreign ownership under current UAE regulations.
Now, most of the Tajer license activities can be 100% owned by foreign individuals.
TAJER license allows:
🛒 . 1057 business activities are covered by the license (including IT, consulting, food, rental & installation, contracting and maintenance, touristic, import, export, real estate, design, and tailoring).
🛒 Most business activities are exempt from having a physical presence or an office (which can be licensed from home). One of the exceptions to this rule is the food category activities;
🛒 . License holders to use the eCommerce mark (eTajer) & license serial number in product promotions;
🛒 . Most of the Tajer license activities can be 100% owned by foreign individuals.
🛒 .Entrepreneurs can add online trade activities to their current licenses or obtain a new license to conduct business through websites and social media networks;

Step-by-Step GUIDE on how to obtain a TAJER license – all by yourself
- UAE Pass Account Registration
– Download the application on your mobile and register a new account
*BizzTIP: If the app has been downloaded but is not opening. Or the verification code is not validated. These errors may appear if the app is not compatible with the phone. Call the UAE PASS support center at 600 560 000, communicate the model of your mobile phone and they will advise.

– To complete the final verification step and upgrade the account through biometric verification. The client has to visit any UAE Pass kiosk with their original Emirates ID.

Visit the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi website by following the link to apply for a TAJER license – log in with your UAE Pass account and choose “ISSUE A TAJER license”. All the further processes will be through this UAE Pass account..
- Trade Name Reservation/Request Initial Approval/GDRFA
Submit online in the account the following documents and details:
– Passport of all partners;
– Emirates ID of all partners;
– Visa copy of all partners;
– Personal address, inclusive of the PO box in the UAE, email & mobile phone of both partners;
– Social media links if available (Facebook business account, etc.);
– Website name;
– Company capital;
– Chosen activities;
– Company name (As per the Commercial Company Law, the business activity must be reflected in the company name in full). - Specimen Signature Drafting – can be done by any Translation Services company ( in the event you require a partner visa).
- Notary Public Registration & Attestation of the Specimen Signature letter
. - Once the license application is approved, the MOA will be generated online and needs to be signed by both parties through the UAE Pass account by typing the password from the UAE Pass account.
- TAJER license issuance
All shareholders will receive via email:
– Trade license;
– Commercial register certificate;
– Receipt of the payment. - If you require a visa, choose the option” E Channel registration in AD Immigration”.
- Apply for the Establishment card

I’m requesting general information same as you explained in the above article for the process and the cost of creating Tajer License.
Just you need to complete the article by mentioning the renewal fees.
For example, the renewal fees will be the same as what has been paid for the first time at time of creating the license except for “Social Contributions fee”, “activities fees” and “establishment card fee”.

Kindly note, some fees that make total cost of the license are exempted for the first two years by AD DED.
However, upon renewal, the full license cost will be applicable, and fees will be generated based on the company legal type & activities, etc.

HI, In Tajer Abu Dhabi when I am doing renewal it says attached Thaweeq wherein we do not any office because in Tajer Abu Dhabi Category license is not required.

Kindly assist me in the limitations of the Tajer Abu Dhabi license. Like i have heard that the bank account opening is not possible. Is that true?

Indeed, the process of opening a bank account for TAJER licenses is complicated, however hundreds of our clients have successfully opened their accounts with UAE banks, and still operating without any limitations. Nowadays many banks have start-up accounts, designed for TAJER and Freelance licenses.
