Unexpectedly, leaving Dubai is more difficult than moving here. So before you board the plane, here is some advice.
#1 🏡 Cancel your EJARI | Tenancy Contract
If you request cancellation of the EJARI | Tenancy Contract earlier than the expiration date, you can negotiate with your landlord a discount, as many contracts specify a penalty for early departure.

– EJARI Certificate | Tenancy Contract
– NOC
– Final DEWA bill
– Emirates ID of the Landlord | Passport copy
EJARI cancellation request can be made online or at RERA office and will be processed within 24-48 hours.
#2 🚰🔥 Disconnect your DEWA account
Disconnecting your DEWA account is very important before moving out. If you do not disconnect the account, you will continue to receive bills even after you have vacated the property.
Disconnecting your DEWA account can be done either by canceling DEWA online or by visiting the DEWA Customer Care Center.
Documents required:
– Emirates ID | Passport copy
– Latest DEWA bill
Cancellation will be processed in within 2-3 days, once it’s canceled and you paid the final bill, you will be able to collect your deposit.
#3 ☎️ Cancel your current telecom account Etisalat | DU
In order to cancel the Etisalat | DU account, visit the nearest Etisalat or Du center to raise a request to cancel your current account.
Documents required:
– Emirates ID | Passport copy
– Tenancy Contract copy
Usually, it takes a week for this process to be carried out, as you will need to arrange for an engineer to visit your house and physically disconnect the equipment.
#4 💳 Cancel your Bank account
Never leave your bank account active if you are planning to move from Dubai. Banking disputes are the main cause of problems in the departure area of local airports.
*NOTE: Before you fully close your bank account in the UAE, you must make sure that all loans and credit card debts are repaid. In order to close your bank account, you have to transfer all the amount of money from it and make a request of account cancellation.
Documents required:
– Passport copy
– Emirates ID copy
– Debit/Credit cards and checkbook
*NOTE: The entire process may take a few days and it’s important to get a clearance letter to avoid any complications. The required documents and the cancellation time may vary from bank to bank.
#5 📃Cancel the residency visa
If you have a residence visa sponsored either by a family member or by your employer, and you decide to leave Dubai permanently, your residence visa must be cancelled officially.
An individual sponsoring his/her spouse, children and other dependents must cancel the dependents’ visas first before he cancels his/her own.
After the residence visa is cancelled, the applicant has 28, 59 or 89 days to leave the country before accruing daily fines, depending on the category of the employee
